IS ADHD A REAL DIAGNOSIS ?

IS ADHD A REAL DIAGNOSIS?
The Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder better known as ADHD, is being "diagnosed" is the past 20 years, on children and adults which behavior is considered out of the standards. But what are those standards? are those real? How fair is to tag a person because of his behavior or weakness?
On 2001 when my son was born as any other mother I just wanted the best for him. I still Do! For that reason, as soon as he was 3 years old,  he started an early education program. With the beginning of the classes the problems began. The same complains from the teachers all over the first 6 years of his education. As he grow, the troubles grow with him along with the loneliness who made him blank of bullies.
A 3rd grade teacher suggested me to take him with a psychologist for an evaluation. I was in denial. But I did. After 4 sessions the diagnosis was made: Your son has ADHD.
Everything was so fast, he talked for about 30 minutes, explaining a condition, a treatment, a life surrounded by drugs, psychologists and  psychiatrics. I freak out. I remembered him looking at his watch, he asked me if I had any question. Wait, any question? of course I had a question, actually I had one zillion of questions, but he opened the door and asked me to make another appointment for next week with his colleague, a psychiatric to discuss the options for the drugs.
Just like that, my son's life changed. It only took four sessions of 45 minutes each to determine that we have to deal with a condition which statistics pointed to high levels of drugs abuse, suicide, and felonies.
